When the Devil Knocks on My Door

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you."1

"When Satan comes to remind me about my past, I remind him about his future."

One thing Satan does is continually accuse us before God (See Revelation 12:10). He will accuse us, too, of our past in our mind if we allow him to. When he does, however, we can remind him not only about his future in hell, but also that Christ shed his blood on the cross and gave his life to pay for our sins and has washed them all away. So what's there to accuse us of if we have confessed our sins to Christ and asked for and accepted his forgiveness? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Because Christ died for us and cleansed us from our sins, we can, in his name, resist the devil and, as James said, he will flee from us. Satan hates the name of Jesus. Be sure to mention it when Satan comes to tempt you. Instead of trying to reason with Satan, just remind him of his future and mention the name of Jesus ... and pray a simply prayer, "Help God! Help!"

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, thank you that you have defeated Satan and all his evil emissaries, and that there is power in your name to defend against any and all of Satan's devious ways and to defeat him. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

Greening of Glenridge in Soweto

Absa, together with Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA), celebrated the launch of their new Absa Green Vehicle Finance product, by donating 150 trees to the grateful community of Glen Ridge, Soweto on 24 August 2011. The tree distribution followed the product launch at the Absa West Towers in Johannesburg.

This initiative makes Absa the first South African auto-financier to offer customers rebates of up to 0.75% (in addition to the normal individualised pricing they would have enjoyed) when they purchase passenger vehicles with a carbon output of less than 120g/km. Additionally, for each vehicle sold, a tree will be planted free of charge on behalf of the customer by Absa.

This was indeed a great day, where the community members, young and old, came in numbers to receive and celebrate the donation of 150 trees by Absa. The programme started in high spirits as Nokhaya Makrexeni, a gospel artist, led the community in song.

The first speaker, Solomon Mondlane, FTFA Community Forester in charge of this project, welcomed all. Nosipho Sibanda, a poet, followed by singing praise to the world’s longest living species, the tree. “You are a gift of life, without you we would all perish,” exclaimed Nosipho.

The next speaker was Themba Nkuna, another FTFA Community Forester, who spoke of FTFA’s five programmes and emphasised the importance of trees.

Travis Spencer-Coye, Portfolio Manager at Absa Retail Bank, gave a short speech explaining how Absa’s new Green Finance product launch would ultimately benefit the communities of South Africa through the donation of trees with every vehicle sold. Furthermore, Travis presented the three Community Educators with Absa branded certificates, recognizing their participation in basic training on how to plant trees, the benefits of trees and clean and green suburbs and gardening, how to communicate with their neighbours about the value of trees in our lives, how to plant and maintain trees, and basic climate change information.

To conclude the programme, Solomon and Travis conducted a detailed and energetic tree planting demonstration for the community before performing a lively cultural dance, along with three other Absa representatives, and handing out the trees to the enthusiastic residents of Glen Ridge.

“We had a poem by Nosipho Sibanda and music items from Nokhaya Makrexeni. What a great day as the sponsor and community members sang and danced together celebrating the trees,” concluded Solomon.

Unleashing Your Secrete Weapon

Sermon of 14 August 2011 by Pastor Vulture

Scripture read in the Book of 1 Samuel 17:12 – 25

Unleashing Your Secrete Weapon
(Ukukhulula isikhali sakho semfihlakalo)

We as Christains are in a war situation. We are not in a war where we are to use AK47s. As Christians we are being challenged in every corner. If you are not challenged at work, you are challenged at home where you stay; we are challenged in schools. The world wants you to compromise; the world wants to discourage you from your faith. The world wants to make sure that you don’t get out there and do exactly what God wants you to do.

Home Food Garden

Green Garden for a Pensioner

This food garden was created to help my great grand mother in law to eat green and healthy. It was created 3 months ago and it is very beautiful. We planted spinach, cabbages, onions, carrots and beetroot. We also applied mulch and used drip irrigation. We used kraal manure and we have earth worms. You can make yours and live healthy!

The Month of July

My wife was hospitalised a week before the month of July begun. She stood between death and life. Doctors gave her 50% survival chance.

28 June a baby boy was born. He was named Simphiwe Musa Junior. The family celebrated.

3 July, Simphiwe passed on.

6 July, Simphiwe was laid to rest.

12 July, Nanette (3 years) planted a tree in honour of his brother. The same day, Nanette was knocked by a car and was unable to walk for 2 days.

28 July, I was shocked by electricity fence and escaped serious injuries. I was in and out of hospital but I’m thankful to God I am alive today.

31 July, my birthday; 290 facebook messages, 30 smses, 17 phone calls and 13 emails of well wishers: A huge kiss from my wife.

Thank God for everything that has happened in the month of July. You are still God and you deserve the honour and praise.
