Thabo Mbotsela is a learner from Mokgwetsi Primary school in North West. He is in grade 6. He is attending the EduPlant competion for the first time. His school is also attending the EduPlant competition for the first time.
They started practising the permaculture system of farming, and that inspired them to enter for the EduPlant Competition. His school was shorlisted amongs 70 school.
The school, like any other school in the country is faced with challenges. Some learners cannot afford to pay their school fees, and some lack school uniform.
They started their permaculture farming to boost their feeding scheme, and it helps caters for at least 50 or more orphans.
In their garden they have tomatoes, onions, cabbages, spinach and carrots. They need more tools to help them make their garden sustainable.
“Learners must work, and listen to their teachers when they are talking to them. The learners in the counrty must be involved in doing permaculture because it is a good thing to do.”Said Thabo
