We are a Holy Nation

(Forgiveness does not just happen)

We are a Holy Nation. We were called by the Holy Nation through our father Abraham. God speaks about this nation.

It was through this nation that all nations were blessed; that we will treat one another fairly; love each other and show obedience to him. This nation did not obey God instead.

Abraham was chosen because He was righteous, not because he was a Jew or white. Jesus broke down the curses and fulfil the promises that were made to Abraham. Every promise in the scripture is for the children of God.

(An emotional Maria: Mercy Ministry Team Member)
The minute you accept Jesus as the Lord and saviour; you get a higher identity. The rest you have achieved in life had been in the same level, (Being born a Shangaan; born in townships; got into high school; got into tertiary; got into corporate world; got money; bought a house; got married; drove a very expensive car and being succesful)= All this is in the same level like the rest of the people in the world. The difference is, some got better opportunities than others. You cannot change what you are; being Shangaan or whatever you are, but you can take an upper step in Jesus.

“I bring the beauty of my people in this Holy Nation no matter who you are according to human discription.” It was God’s design that we come from different ethnic groups.

The Holy Nation is characterised by; NEW IDENTITY, A NEW NAME, A NEW CITIZENSHIP, A NEW DESTINY, A NEW PURPOSE/HEREDITY, A NEW SONG, NEW VALUES AND A NEW EQUALITY.

God chose us so that the world around us can see the God we serve. We must know that, this higher identity has a responsibility.

Our Identity:

It is a tragedy if we don’t understand our identity.

• If you only recognise the people of your own race rather than the good things by the other races. (You don’t want to hear about other races no matter what good they are doing in the society.)

• You become blind. (You cannot see the wrong being than by the people of your ethnic group)

• You become superior and want people to do things in your own standard. You become blind of the beauty ,God has placed in other groups.

God knew that we will sin one another. God knew that we will treat one another unfairly. That’s why Jesus came down. Its not an easy road. We need to be responsible for our higher identity.

What are the characterisstic of your ethnicity/culture ( e.g. pride, inferiority, making an idol of your ethnicity e.t.c. )

Behaviour and attitudes would indicate a prejudice.

What happen in my life if I am serving God, then tragedy strikes? What will happen to me?

We always blame God. Why me God? Why you didn’t protect me from this? Why you took my only brother away from? Why that God?

Four questions people can have:

• Is God just?

• Is everything that happens in the world the will of God? (Matthew 6:9-)

• If God is all powerful, why doesn’t stop He stop evil people from doing evil things?

• If God is a God of love, why does He let innocent people?

If God is just, why is there so much injustices in the world? (Deutoronomy 32: 74)

It’s not God’s purpose for the world to suffer but all things work together for good to all those who love Him no matter what the enemy has done to you. It is not a will of God for an innocent girl to be raped; or children to be recruited as child soldiers. The enemy has come to steal, kill and to destroy the good our God has made.

Isaiah 59... (Injustices and oppressions). verse 14. As Christians we have a role to play in our society, to heal the broken hearts. Our role is to stand in the gab. It is very important to understand our Identity because we need to stand in the gap.

Activate Romans 8:28.

• God is not the author of any injustices. Proverbs 6:16-19, Zech 8:16-17

• God is with us in our suffering. He is sharing our pain. Psalms 139:7-8; Isaiah 63:9

God can redeem our suffering.
